5/5

Car Shipping Arizona by Cruise Control Auto TransportThe state of Arizona has a population of of just over 6.5 million residents, which makes it 15th largest in the U.S. in terms of total population. However, it is the sixth-largest state in the U.S. in terms of total area, which makes it rather odd that the population density of the state ranks it just 33rd in the U.S. in that category. It was the last of the contiguous 48 states to be added to the Union and the state has grown primarily on the back of Phoenix, its largest city and metropolitan area. The majority of the population of Arizona reside in or around Phoenix; the rest of the state is sparsely populated due to the fact that the majority of the state is located the southwestern desert of the United States.

Despite the rather high number of interstate highways that weave in and around the state of Arizona, it is not the friendliest of auto transport states mainly because of the state is sparsely populated. There are long stretches of desert scenery in the state where there are few customers; this makes it difficult for auto transporters because they must go long distances between customers and rest areas. Major east-west interstates include I-8, I-10 and I-40, while major north-south interstates are I-17 and I-19. I-5 also runs through the northwestern corner and is perhaps the most heavily traveled interstate in Arizona, though if only for brief periods; most carriers use it when moving out of San Diego heading east. Phoenix is the largest and perhaps easiest city for shippers to get in and out of due to its shear size.

Arizona is one of those states that sees almost no snowfall – because of its location in the desert, Arizona sees more triple-digit days in terms of temperature than almost any other state in the Union. During the summer months average highs hover right around 100 degrees, with overnight lows dipping down into the upper 70’s or lower 80’s. Some carriers will avoid Arizona for a few weeks during the hottest points of the year, as some older trucks are not able to handle such high temperatures for too long a duration. During the winter months is when Arizona sees most of its auto transport traffic, considering the fact that the temperatures are much more mild and the industry in general tends to shift to more southern-based routes as opposed to northern ones, as to stay away from the heavy snows and harsh weather more common in northern states.
